Infinite Playwrights’ Chat Room opens English language theatre development in Montreal

Infinithéâtre opens its play-development to the public

The Infinite Playwrights’ Chat Room

Every Thursday from May 14 to June 25, 5pm

Montreal, May 2020Infinithéâtre is inviting members of the public across Canada to The Infinite Playwrights’ Chat Room to participate online in the development of a series of exciting new plays. Once a week, a different script of a work-in-progress from six Québec playwrights will be released. If the synopsis of the play intrigues you or you enjoy reading early work and being part of the process, they are looking for your input to help develop and write the next draft. The Infinite Playwrights’ Chat Room runs Thursdays, May 14-June 25.

This is a genuine dramaturgical process. If interested, people have ten days to read the play and think about feedback; any questions, observations and suggestions they’d like to offer. These comments from diverse readers help the writer make decisions about the next version. During a live Zoom session your suggestions will be put forth, providing the writer with fresh inspiration for their next phase of development

As audience members, the general public is welcome to audit the event and add comments in a Q&A session. If you would like to participate live in the discussion with the playwright, moderator and other select creatives, just let Infinithéâtre know when you email your comments. You could then be invited as a guest into the room. The Chats can also be watched live on Infinithéâtre’s  Facebook page.

Stratford suspends festival 2020

Stratford suspends festival 2020

Stratford Festival

Today we came to the heartbreaking conclusion that our spectacular 2020 season cannot go on as planned, and so we have put the entire season on hold while we wait for a signal from government that tells us it will be safe to move forward – for you, and for all of us. In all likelihood, that means we will have to delay any programming until next year. But if, by some miracle, we are able to open our doors sooner, we will let you know. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to share a special fall or holiday show together?

Like yours, our lives have been turned upside down. Our work has stopped, and for a charitable organization like the Stratford Festival, that means we no longer have a source of income.

ONEGIN      Written by Alexander Pushkin

Red Torch Theatre, Novosibirsk

Timofey Kulyabin’s Golden Mask Award winning Onegin removes all expectations of Pushkin’s novel in verse and places you not in some historical epoch, but in today’s world, immersed in the inner thoughts, hopes, despairs, passions and disappointments that drift in, through and around the 4 central figures, Onegin, Tatiana, Olga and Lensky. There are no grand balls, no fans, no lorgnettes, no “Encyclopedia of Russian life”. Just a quiet love story that perfectly conveys the attitude of the great poet and how very much his masterwork still resonates with our 21st century reality.

Winner 2 Golden Mask Awards

“Every gesture, stare or word is infused with Pushkin’s mercilessness and tenderness” – Russian Sibnet

“Director Timofey Kulyabin is one of the most interesting directors of his generation and a virtuoso pro” – St Petersburg Theatre Journal
