Odyssey Theatre and the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival offer exciting new summer theatre pass.
Two of Eastern Ontario’s biggest outdoor theatre companies are teaming up this summer to offer  audiences a new type of ticket. They’re calling it the 416 Play Pass, and it gets its holder into a show at both Odyssey Theatre and the St. Lawrence Shakespeare at a savings of 33%.
Like the 416 Highway, the pass connects the Ottawa and Prescott theat res and gives audiences a great new option for not one, but two nights of entertaining outdoor theatre. Holders of the pass will enjoy Odyssey’s world premiere of Lysistrata and the Temple of Gaia and St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival’s  classic  As You Like It
or The Taming of the Shrew

.
Down the highway from Ottawa in Prescott at the Shakespeare Festival, this summer’s shows are sure to be favourites. They feature experienced talent on the stage with local favourites like Rose Napoli, Zachary Counsil, Andrew Moore, and Melissa Morris, as well as Stratford veterans Jamie Mac and Liz Saunders. At
their outdoor theatre on the banks of the St Lawrence, they’ll be presenting
As You Like It,  Shakespeare’s most pastoral romantic comedy, and The Taming of the Shrew,  The Bard’s play about a difficult love.
416 Play Pass holders will be offered a choice of one of the two shows as part of the experience.
On the banks of another mighty river, the Rideau, Odyssey Theatre will be giving 416 Theatre Pass holders a delightful evening of comedy and intrigue with
Lysistrata and the Temple of Gaia,  a new play by David S. Craig.
The play is inspired by the one of the earliest Western comedies, the Ancient Greek
classic Lysistrata by Aristophanes, in which Athenian women go on a sex strike to stop a war. In Lysistrata and the Temple of Gaia, , the women of the future strike to save the planet, the men refuse to act and a hilarious battle of the sexes ensues.
Holders of  the 416 Play Pass will get access to the best that Odyssey Theatre and the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival can offer this summer between July 14 and August 26.
The passes are now available online on the company’s websites, below. The passes cost $40 and give passholders access to one performance of
Lysistrata and the Temple of Gaia  and one of the two St. Lawrence Shakespeare
Festival plays.
Odyssey Theatre is Ottawa’s premiere, award winning outdoor theatre, having delighted audiences with their elaborate sets, masks and movement, since 1985. Odyssey’s shows are known for their high production values, with great casts and beautiful design. Their summer run of Lysistrata and the Temple of Gaia runs in Strathcona Park from July 26 -August 26.
